Toyota Safety Sense^™ P (TSS-P)

The available Toyota Safety Sense^™ P  is a newly developed package of safety features that combines Pre-Collision System  with Pedestrian Detection  (PCS w/PD), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Auto High Beams (AHB)  and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)  to help assist you. TSS-P’s comprehensive features create in-the-moment safety designed to support your awareness and decision-making on the road. Available on Limited and Hybrid Limited.

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection

Available Pre-Collision System  with Pedestrian Detection  (PCS w/PD) helps keep the road safe by detecting pedestrians in certain situations. By combining millimeter-wave radar with a camera capable of shape recognition, an audible warning and a display notification can alert you of a possible collision with a pedestrian under certain circumstances. If you don’t react, automatic braking and collision-avoidance support is then given to help prevent a collision from happening.

Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist

Available Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDS w/SA)  is designed to help you stay in your lane and help keep you safe from harm. Using a specialized camera, the system is designed to detect visible painted lane markings on the road and alert you if you start to drift out of your lane. An audible beeping sound and indicator light on the instrument panel will flash so that you can then take corrective action.

Auto High Beams

Available on Avalon Limited, the Auto High Beams (AHB)  feature helps enhance visibility when driving at night. The system is designed to detect oncoming vehicles as far away as 2000 feet and, depending on the circumstances, automatically switches the high beams off, making it easier for other drivers on the road, and then switches them on when it clears.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

Available Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)  automatically adjusts vehicle speed to help maintain a preset following distance between you and the vehicle directly in front of you.
